Closed Sinus Lifting
In the upper jaw, the roots of the back teeth sit just below the maxillary sinus. When a tooth there has been missing for a while, the bone between the sinus and the mouth can become too thin to hold an implant. A sinus lift raises the floor of the sinus and adds bone material underneath it so that an implant has enough height to sit in.
Closed or open
A closed sinus lift is the less invasive version. The surgeon works through the same small opening that is prepared for the implant, gently lifts the sinus floor, places bone material, and puts the implant in during the same procedure. It's used when only a few millimetres of extra height are needed. When the bone is much thinner, an open sinus lift is done instead.
How it's done at M Clinic
The decision is made from your CBCT 3D scan, which shows the exact height of bone under the sinus. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, usually together with implant placement. Healing of the bone and the implant takes several months before the crown is made.
Our surgeons, Giorgi Rakviashvili and Nukri Rogava, perform all sinus lift procedures at the clinic.
Price
A closed sinus lift costs 1,500 GEL, in addition to the implant. The exact figure is confirmed after the 3D scan.
