Endodontic Bleaching

A tooth that has had root canal treatment, or has been knocked, can gradually turn grey or brown from the inside. Ordinary whitening doesn't help in this case, because the colour comes from inside the tooth. Endodontic (internal) bleaching lightens such a tooth from within.

How it's done

The dentist places a whitening agent inside the tooth, through the opening used for the root canal treatment, and seals it temporarily. The agent works for several days, and if needed the step is repeated until the tooth matches its neighbours. Then the opening is closed with a permanent filling. It's a gentle way to restore the colour of a single dark tooth without a crown or a veneer.
