Impacted Tooth Extraction

An impacted tooth is one that hasn't come through properly. It's stuck in the bone or under the gum, often at an angle, pressing against the tooth next to it. Wisdom teeth are the usual case, but canines and premolars can be impacted too. Left in place, an impacted tooth can cause pain, recurring gum inflammation, decay in the neighbouring tooth, and in some cases a cyst.

Why it's a surgical extraction

An impacted tooth can't simply be gripped and removed. The surgeon has to open the gum, sometimes remove a small amount of bone, and often divide the tooth into sections so it can be taken out with minimal pressure on the surrounding tissue. The sockets are then closed with stitches.

How it's done at M Clinic

Planning starts with a 3D CBCT scan. It shows exactly where the tooth sits in relation to the nerve canal in the lower jaw or the sinus in the upper jaw, which is what makes the extraction safe. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic by maxillofacial surgeon Giorgi Rakviashvili or surgeon Nukri Rogava. Expect swelling for a few days and plan a quiet day or two afterwards. Full healing takes one to two weeks, and you'll be given detailed aftercare instructions.

Price

The starting price for an impacted tooth extraction is shown above. The final figure depends on how deep the tooth is and how close it sits to the nerve, and it's confirmed after the 3D scan.
