Megagen Gum Shaper
A gum shaper (also called a healing abutment or gum former) is a small temporary cap that is screwed onto the implant once it has healed into the bone. Its job is to shape the gum around the future crown so that the crown sits in a natural-looking collar of gum tissue.
When it's placed
After the implant has integrated with the bone, usually 3 to 6 months after placement, the surgeon uncovers it and fits the gum shaper. It stays in place for around two weeks while the gum heals around it. Then it's removed, an impression or digital scan is taken, and the permanent abutment and crown are made.
Price
The Megagen gum shaper is priced separately from the implant, at 200 GEL. It is part of every Megagen implant treatment, so you'll see it in your treatment plan from the start.
