Tooth Extraction
Removing a tooth is the last option, not the first. At M Clinic we extract a tooth only when it can't be saved: when the crown has broken down below the gum, when a root is fractured vertically, when an infection has destroyed the bone around it, or when the tooth has to go to make room for orthodontic treatment.
Before the extraction
Every extraction starts with a diagnosis. A 3D CBCT scan shows the surgeon the shape of the roots and their position relative to the nerve, the sinus and the neighbouring teeth, so the procedure is planned, not improvised. If the tooth can still be treated, you'll be told so. Our microscope-assisted root canal treatment saves many teeth that would once have been extracted.
How it's done
The tooth is removed under local anaesthetic using an atraumatic technique: the aim is to take the tooth out while keeping the bone and gum around the socket intact. That matters because bone starts to shrink as soon as the tooth is gone. Where an implant is planned and the bone is sound, we can place the implant in the same visit. Where the implant will come later, the socket can be preserved with a bone graft so the bone keeps its shape.
A simple extraction takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Swelling and mild discomfort for two or three days are normal and are managed with ordinary pain relief. You'll get clear aftercare instructions, and healing of the gum takes one to two weeks.
Price
Tooth extraction starts at 150 GEL. The final price depends on the position of the tooth and how complex the extraction is: an impacted tooth, or a wisdom tooth, is priced separately. The exact figure is confirmed after the 3D scan.
Extractions are performed by maxillofacial surgeon Giorgi Rakviashvili and surgeon Nukri Rogava. Book a consultation or message us on WhatsApp.
