Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose nerve (pulp) is inflamed or infected. Typical signs are strong, throbbing toothache, pain at night, long-lasting sensitivity to hot and cold, or swelling of the gum. Without treatment the infection spreads to the bone around the root, and the tooth may eventually have to be extracted.

How it's done at M Clinic

The treatment is done under local anaesthetic, so it's painless. The dentist removes the inflamed nerve, cleans and shapes the canals and seals them tightly so bacteria can't get back in. At M Clinic root canals are treated under a CJ Optik dental microscope, which shows extra canal branches and microcracks that can't be seen with the naked eye. That noticeably improves the chance of keeping the tooth. Where needed, a 3D X-ray shows the shape of the canals before treatment starts.

After root canal treatment the tooth is restored with a filling or, if much of it is lost, a crown.
